UFC point spreads: how often favorites cover -3.5, 3,030 fights checked
We settled the UFC point spread on every fight since 2021. Half of fights end in a finish, which always covers. The most common decision is a 3-point win, half a point short of -3.5. Betting favorites won 69% of three-round fights and covered -3.5 56%; a 2-to-1 underdog won 33% and cashed +3.5 47%.
Most sportsbooks give you two ways to back a UFC fighter: to win, or to win a certain way. DraftKings adds a third, the point spread. Add up each fighter’s points on the three judges’ scorecards: a fighter at −3.5 has to win them by 4 points or more, and any knockout or submission covers. We settled the spread on every UFC fight from January 2021 to October 2026, 3,030 of them, and lined it up against the closing odds.
Short answer: half of UFC fights never reach the judges, and every finish covers. But when the judges do decide it, the single most common result is a 3-point win, half a point short of −3.5. Over all three-round fights, the betting favorite won 69% of the time and covered −3.5 56%. A 2-to-1 underdog won about one fight in three, and his +3.5 cashed almost half the time.
